Menopause now a thing of the past.

Experts on fertility say they have found a way to reverse the menopause, offering hope to millions of women to become pregnant. That sure sounds good, isn't it?

About two-thirds of a group of 30 patients started producing eggs again after undergoing a new treatment, the Greek scientists affirm.

However, British experts have warned that old age pregnancy poses a lot of health risks for mother and baby. But Konstantinos Sfakianodis, from the Genesis Athens clinic, said: 'it offers a window of hope open menopausal women will be able to become pregnant using their own genetic material.'

The new treatment involves creating a platelet-rich plasma by spinning a sample of blood in a centrifuge. The technique has previously been used to treat sports injuries but the Genesis Athens researchers injected the plasma into the ovaries of the 30 women aged between 46 and 49. One of the patients started having menstrual periods again for the first time in five years, Prof. Sfakianodis said. The team however says they don't know how long the reversal lasts and not so sure why the process works. They think that the plasma might be stimulating stem cells to regenerate tissue and produce new hormones.

However, they concluded further studies would be carried out to ascertain the duration of the reversal and to determine how it effectively works.
