[WEEKEND SPECIAL]: Meet Subomi Akinpelu, CEO of Tebrazile (Pearlz) Cakes and Events.
How best can one describe a seasoned young entrepreneur per excellence like Olasubomi Akinpelu, a graduate of Food service and Tourism from Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta. Her passion for business is second to none. She is no doubt an inspiration to upcoming generations. She is the CEO of Tebrazile (pearlz) Cakes and Events, maker of varieties of assorted cakes to suit your occasion no matter the design. The Naija Express Weekend special had a chat with her on her experience in the business and what her goals her. She’s a lady of few words and she’s very interesting. Excerpts:
Can we meet you?
I am Akinpelu Olasubomi, a graduate of Food Service and Tourism from Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta.
What are you into?
I am a caterer, I bake and design different cakes for weddings, birthday parties, graduation etcmaking of chops and different snacks and also cater for meals for different events.
What inspires you into the business?
My major inspiration into the business is my love for hygienically cooked food, quality service and my great passion for colours.
What’s your long term goal in the business?
My long term goal is to be a top leading catering service in the country and a household name for every event with a world class training centre where people can acquire qualitative knowledge about hygienically processed foods.
How easy was it getting started in the business?
I would not say it was hard but it wasn't quite easy with the cost of acquiring equipments and also acquiring more knowledge. It was hectic most especially when you have to raise capital but we are gradually getting there.
Do you train people?
Yes we provide trainings for people regardless of your background. What is important is for you to be hygienically conscious (laughs).
What’s your advice for young graduates like you?
My advice to young graduates like me is to empower themselves and always remain focused. Both government and the social circle cannot meet their needs in terms of job. Rather than chasing a wild goose, they should sit down and make long term goals for themselves and start small and gradually grow bigger.
