The wife of the Nigerian President Mrs. Aisha Buhari arrives in Washington DC for a week long event.

You will recall that the wife of the President had been alleged in June by the embattled  governor of Ekiti State Ayodele Fayose to have been involved in the Halliburton scandal to which one Aisha Buhari was named to have wired the sum of $170,000 to a US Congress man Robert Jeffersen. However, various investigations carried out shows that the Aisha Buhari named in the said scandal was not the wife of the President. Governor Fayose has insisted that the person named in the scandal was actually the President's wife. He further challenged the president's wife to travel to the US if she would not be arrested by the INTERPOL.

The first lady's visit however has laid the allegation to rest even as she had previously demanded an apology from the governor which the governor refuted, maintaining his stand.
