Fayose and the new calling. By Bayode Olusegun.

It was really interesting to see the purported story of Governor Peter Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State performing 'miracle' on a lame man who eventually was claimed to have been able to walk after the miracle. Isn't it interesting that someone who wished a fellow human being dead over a year ago is now a miracle performer? Honestly, I cannot wait to see such miracles being replicated on Ekiti State's economy. I cannot also wait to see such miracle making EFCC officials burning Fayose’s case file of money laundering and tell the world he has no case to answer. I cannot wait to experience dramatic socio-political and economic well being of Ekiti people and that of the PDP. That miracle prowess should also be able to buy some Buhari's 'hailing hailers' over to PDP. In fact that singular miraculous manifestation should bring about overall repositioning of the PDP from the battered image it has suffered in the public domain. Whatever the impression that miracle is out to achieve; it would be inimical not to be in high expectations of its assumed results. In fact his media handlers should be given toddlers round of applause for this epic and historic miraculous details.

Nigerian people are so religious. The best way to capture their interests is to just run a simple commercial jingle about miracles and it would be high time they sought their miracles as well regardless who is performing them as long as there would be paradigm shift in their situations they care less. So I won't be surprised if Ekiti government house is turned to a miracle centre tomorrow. Afterall, since all governors have been enjoined to diversify the economy, that could be one of the most lucrative way amongst the various options available for aggressive revenue generation. Don't also forget that some bank accounts have been frozen and several millions of naira stuck in them. There must be a way to continually maintain the spending nature of the Governor pending the time of eventual defreezing of his accounts, if ever possible.

Do you know that if pupils in Ekiti can be made to pay tax in Ekiti, the state government secretariat or any playing ground around it can be made a miracle centre for revenue generation and miracle seekers will have to pay miracle levy before the governor can perform his miracles. That's outside consultation levy that may be introduced later in cases of protracted ailments. I am saying all these so that if the governor has not thought of a way to diversify Ekiti State'seconomy, this is just one of the brightest ideas and not the Greek gift patronage that brings nothing into the state coffers.

The moment you start criticising the governor about these developments, he will personally address your case on air. He would tell you "My name is Peter the rock, every collaborative gathering against me will fail". He will tell you how his calling is the best thing to have happened to his position as a governor. He will tell you he has never lost a battle even though he was successfully impeached in his first coming into politics ( I don't want to talk about that process of impeachment now, all I know is that he was impeached).

That miracle performance is a signal to all his political enemies that he has something in him that is greater than theirs. It is a clear sign that you cannot touch someone who has got miracle power and not be defeated. It is a very clear message; brilliant enough to sell but foolishly childish to buy.

On a final note, I want to sit back and follow the implementation of the newly discovered revenue generation option. The first thing I would like to see is the creation of Miracle ministry and a permanent secretary appointed with the governor serving as a commissioner designate. You critics should not even try to make any noise about the governor managing the ministry because the answer will be readily available; "Is Buhari not Minister of Petroleum?" What have I done wrong?. Before the full implementation, my legs remain crossed on the table of wonderland museum.
